VACB Membership Information and Benefits


Bank Membership :

Eligibility :
    Membership is open to any national bank, state bank, savings institution, banking firm or trust company in Virginia which conducts its business as a community bank. A community bank is one which has its own name, board of directors and management, and which gathers deposits and makes loans primarily within a specific localized trade area.

Dues Structure :
    Dues are based on a bank's asset size, as of September 30th each year. The dues schedule is:
    Up to $25 Million.........$ 500
    $25 Million to $50 Million.........$ 700
    $50 Million to $75 Million.........$ 800
    $75 Million to $100 Million.........$ 900
    $100 Million to $200 Million.........$1,100
    $200 Million to $400 Million.........$1,200
    Over $400 Million.........$1,300
    Branch Assessment (per branch).........$25

Benefits :
  • Advocacy : VACB is instrumental in promoting the agenda of Virginia's community banks. Both VACB Officers and Leadership Bankers work with legislators, regulators and the media to ensure that the position of local financial institutions is always represented.

  • Resources : VACB members receive the quarterly publication, The Community Banker, the only publication with content created specifically for community banks and the companies that serve them in Virginia. Members also receive the electronically distributed The Update, which delivers timely content on association events, banker news and other pertinent information that members need to know.

  • Educational Seminars : Member banks may register to attend seminars and conferences at half-price fees. On site educational programs are offered for CEOs, Board Directors, Compliance Officers, Internal Auditors, Security Officers, and Lenders. Many members also participate in the distance educational programs through the VACB teleconferences and webinars on a variety of topics.

  • Bank Directors Programs : Each Spring, several one-day programs designed specifically for community bank directors are held in multiple locations. These one-day programs are designed to meet the needs of busy bank directors by coming to a locality near where they work and live. Industry experts provide the most up-to-date training for directors. VACB also sponsors numerous online offerings for bank directors.

  • Annual Member Convention : Each Fall, the Association welcomes members, associates and guests to a three-day event, highlighted by speakers, exhibitors, industry representatives and entertainment. This is the premier networking opportunity for our community banking industry.

  • Banking Solutions : The products and services spotlighted by the VACB are designed for the community bank market. These solutions are provided by our VACB associate members, to advance the competitiveness and viability of our community banks.


Associate (Business) Membership :

Eligibility :
    Any person, firm or corporation in accord with the purposes of the Association its eligible for membership with Board approval. Associate members shall be entitled to all privileges and courtesies of the Association, with the exception of voting privileges.

    1 - 24 Employees = $600
    25 + Employees = $1,000

Benefits :
  • Access : You can participate in the VACB Annual Convention as an attendee and / or exhibitor; this meeting is held each October at a four-star resort.

  • Exposure : You will receive a fee listing on the VACB website with a hyperlink to your companyÕs site. VACB will mail your companyÕs marketing collateral on your behalf, welcoming you to the association and highlighting the services your company provides to banks.

  • Information : You will receive a free subscription to both the monthly electronic newsletter The Update and a free subscription to the quarterly magazine The Community Banker. You are invited and encouraged to submit articles and information to both publications.

  • Advertising Opportunities : You can place an ad in our quarterly, full-color magazine, The Community Banker. You may also place an ad on our website.

  • Training : You are invited to attend our quality training programs at member rates. Learn first-hand the functional concerns of bank presidents, directors, operations officers, internal auditors and compliance officers. When appropriate, associates may be asked to speak at special interest seminars.

  • Recognition : You will be recognized among VACB's bankers as a supporter of the community banking industry.
